Groningen student cabaret

At GSCF, enthusiastic auditioners can sign up every year for the selections of the Groninger Student Cabaret Festival! They will show their talents in Utrecht and Groningen to the selection committee, consisting of four professionals.

The process begins with a participant weekend, where the introduction to each other, the committee and a well-known director takes place. During rehearsals and conversations with Audrey, the programs are increasingly perfected over the summer.

In September it is finally time and the Try-Outs start. In various theaters throughout the Netherlands the six semi-finalists were able to try out everything in front of an enthusiastic audience in order to finally arrive at their most successful 25 minutes.

The highlight of the Groninger Student Cabaret Festival will take place in November because that's when the finals will be held. After a long process of preparations, this day will be the blowout for the four semi-finalists of the Groninger Student Cabaret Festival.

After the semi-finals, the professional jury will determine who will be allowed to shine in the grand final of the Groninger Student Cabaret Festival. Finally, the audience will be blown out of their seats for the last time by the finalists of the Groninger Student Cabaret Festival and then the Jury Prize, the Personality Prize and the Audience Prize will be awarded.

The Groninger Student Cabaret Festival is all about the contestants, but there will also be a guest performance by a cabaret performer who has already earned his spurs in the theater. Besides this day at the Stadsschouwburg Groningen, the Groninger Student Cabaret Festival has more to offer. For example, prior to the Festival there is an extensive Try-Out Tour, concluding with an equally large Finalist Tour.
